Barkhausen Institut

Girls’ Day Academy (Escape Room)

In 2022, a total of five groups from the Girls’ Day Academy visited the Barkhausen Institut. The 40 girls were introduced to the professional field of science communication, which represents an interface between STEM and education. There were lively discussions and Q&A sessions with Open Lab pedagogue Carolin Fischer.

Afterwards, in the ‘Escape Room with Dr Data’ workshop, they got to know one of the most exciting forms of teaching – the educational game. Supervised by scientists, the participants were able to successfully solve all the tasks at the end of the day and expand their knowledge in the field of data protection.

The Girls’ Day Academy Dresden was aimed at schoolgirls in grades 7 to 9 who were in the career orientation phase and wanted to deal with modern technology and learn about science in practice. Every week for one school year, they visited various educational partners to discover the diverse range of professions in the STEM field.
