On 11 and 12 May 2022, the 7th IEEE 5G++ Summit Dresden took place at Messe Dresden under the motto ‘On the way to 6G.’ The Barkhausen Institut took part in the accompanying exhibition with a stand and presented two demonstrators from its current research:
The first demonstrator, ‘On the way to a trustworthy Internet of Things with remote attestation,’ demonstrated how an IoT device can establish a secure communication connection to a cloud server in order to transmit sensor data. Visitors were able to choose between conventional encryption and encryption using remote attestation.
The second demonstrator, ‘A flexible experimental mmWave setup for communication and sensing,’ showed a waveform in the mmWave range (75 GHz, 2 GHz bandwidth) that was used for both communication and environmental perception (Joint Communications and Sensing).
The IEEE 5G++ Summit Dresden has established itself as a major annual event on the road to 6G and attracted over 600 participants in 2022. The conference brought together leading minds from industry and academia to promote the exchange of ideas and drive the development of 5G++ technologies. It followed a comprehensive approach to the design of 5G++ systems - from silicon hardware, wireless interfaces, networks and edge clouds to tactile internet applications.
