Successful Conclusion of the 3rd Workshop on Enabling Security, Trust, and Privacy in 6G Wireless Systems
From December 8–12, 2024, the IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM) took place in Cape Town, South Africa, under the theme “Connecting the Intelligent World through Africa”. As part of this prestigious conference, the 3rd Workshop on Enabling Security, Trust, and Privacy in 6G Wireless Systems was held on December 8, co-organized by the Barkhausen Institut.
The workshop brought together leading experts from academia and industry to address key challenges and explore innovative solutions for secure and trustworthy wireless communication in the 6G era. Topics ranged from physical layer security and AI-driven solutions to hardware-based mechanisms and post-quantum cryptography.
A highlight of IEEE GLOBECOM was the keynote by Prof. Gerhard Fettweis, founding CEO of the Barkhausen Institut, titled “The 6G Crossroad: Make It or Break It”. In his talk, Prof. Fettweis reflected on the remarkable success of wireless communication technologies from 1G to 5G, while addressing the critical challenges and opportunities as we move towards 6G. He emphasized the collective responsibility to ensure innovation and trustworthiness in future networks.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all participants, speakers, and partners for contributing to this successful workshop. Special thanks go to the members of COST Action CA22168 for their support and to the one6G Initiative for endorsing the workshop.
