Showcases of Research
Clusters of excellence, high-tech, top research: Dresden is one of the most important locations for scientific research in Germany. In September 2020, the Technische Sammlungen Dresden opened a new series of exhibitions and events, the SCHAUFENSTER DER FORSCHUNG, which provides information about current research projects at Dresden institutes. Goals, methods and results of research as well as innovations from Dresden are presented. Visitors are warmly invited to discuss the projects. Interactive exhibits have been developed and built together with the scientists.
The Barkhausen Institute is participating in the exhibition with two interactive exhibits.
- The IoT world is an interactive panorama. It shows, how the Internet of Things plays a role in everyday life and invites visitors to discover this world for themselves. It is intended to stimulate social discourse about the opportunities and challenges of this technology.
- A new version of our robotic Airhockey allows to discover in a playful way what latency is and why it is a central feature of the reliability of the Internet of Things. The game shows that the new communication standard 5G can reach latencies of a few milliseconds. While playing against a robot, visitors can compare the difference between 3G, 4G and 5G.
The panorama was realized with the company intolight. The drawings were created by the artist Robert Richter.
