Science Café on the Future of Health Technology at the COSMO Science Forum
On 12 November 2024, the Barkhausen Institut, in collaboration with the City Libraries Dresden (Städtische Bibliotheken Dresden), will host a Science Café on the subject "Fitness Trackers and Health Apps – Self-Optimisation or External Control?" at the COSMO Science Forum from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
At the event, participants will engage in discourse with experts on the shaping of the future of health technology. These new technologies offer the potential for significant benefits, including enhanced self-monitoring and health promotion. However, this also presents several challenges in relation to the handling of personal health data.
The Science Café offers insights into current developments in the field of health technology. What advantages do technological innovations bring to the field of medical care, for example, in the monitoring of diabetes? What are the potential risks to users, and how might these be mitigated? The program will include short keynote presentations and group discussions that offer new perspectives on the topic. Afterwards, participants will have the opportunity to put their questions directly to the experts.
