Prof. Dr. Matthias Wählisch
BI Research Fellow
BI Research Fellows are renowned professors who support the research mission and vision of the BI. They collaborate with the individual research groups of the BI, provide strategic recommendations, and act as ambassadors of the BI research mission.
Matthias Wählisch holds the Chair of Distributed and Networked Systems at the Faculty of Computer Science at TUD Dresden University of Technology. His research focuses on scalable, reliable, and secure Internet communication. In addition to his academic achievements, he is a co-founder and a coordinator of some successful open source projects such as RIOT (a software platform for Internet-of-Things devices), member of the board of advisors of Internet stakeholders, and active in the IETF and IRTF since 2005. The work of Prof. Wählisch has been awarded multiple times, e.g., with both the Best Paper Award and Best Community Award of ACM CoNEXT 2022.
