How to combine communication and radar?
6G-ICAS4Mobility
One of the core topics at Barkhausen Institut is the combination of a secure radio and sensing (Joint Communication and Sensing - JCnS). The new project 6G-ICAS4Mobility aims to develop such a combination for communication and sensing of the environment and to integrate it into a joint system for the future mobile radio standard 6G (ICAS - Integrated Communication and Sensing).
As part of the project, Barkhausen Institut is investigating data protection aspects and options for securing captured sensor data against manipulation. It is examining the options for maintaining confidentiality both at the physical wave level and in the context of cryptographic IT security procedures. In addition, new concepts for combining communication and radar functionality (ICAS) are being developed. In collaboration with cooperation partners, a demonstrator will be created to illustrate the research work.
Further information on the project can be found on the project page.
The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
