On 5 May 2022, the scientist Joshwa Pohlmann from the Barkhausen Institut took part in the Science Café of the Deutsches Hygiene-Museum Dresden on the topic of ‘Artificial Intelligence’:
In various discussion groups, numerous Dresden researchers were available to exchange ideas with citizens in a relaxed atmosphere and answer questions about artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), the use of data and trust in data storage and use in everyday life.
AI is already being used in many areas of society such as smartphones, medicine and industry and is increasingly being developed and tested for use in autonomous vehicles, smart homes and smart cities. To ensure that research does not ignore the reality of people's lives, the hopes and concerns of citizens are taken into account.
The Science Café was complemented by information stands and demonstrators, which invited visitors to discover and try things out during a break between the two rounds of talks.
The evening was hosted by Dr Uta Bilow, Group Leader of Science Education at the Institute of Nuclear and Particle Physics at the TUD Dresden University of Technology.
