Interdisciplinary panel discussion on AI and data protection

On 24 May 2022, Dr Stefan Köpsell from the Barkhausen Institut took part in the panel discussion ‘Data, law and consumer protection in the digital society’ at the Deutsches Hygiene-Museum Dresden. His discussion partners were political scientist Dr Henriette Litta and lawyer Dr. Anne-Sophie Landwers. Journalist Kolja Schwartz hosted the discussion.

The panel discussion focused on the question of why data is such an important resource today. Who uses data and for what purposes? What is the legal framework for data protection and data security? How does open data differ from personal data? Should we withhold data or release it to enable meaningful use? Where is data collected and how do we retain control over it?

Following the discussion, the audience also had a chance to speak and ask the experts questions.

The panel discussion could also be followed via livestream and is now available to watch online.
